Moorpark College, www.moorparkcollege.edu/ is one of the greatest community colleges on Earth. People from all over the world come to this area to live here and attend Moorpark College. The campus is gorgeous, near one of the safest cities in the U.S. You can get all of your first two-year college courses done on the cheap with fantastic, quality classes. You can transfer your two year degree into a four-year degree at any major university (please verify with your four year college). The list of courses is phenominal. It even offers Exotic Animal Training, as well as Criminal Justice! It is an amazing array of courses in a virtual safe-haven. On top of it, you can visit the beaches, Hollywood, Universal Studios, Disneyland and all the attractions California has to offer, in between classes! Why pay huge, steep price tags to get your basic classes taken, when you can take them here for, more than likely, higher quality??? Economically, it makes no sense. Spend two years at Moorpark and transfer to your college of choice to not only save a ton of money, but to enjoy your surroundings as well. You can even contact financial aid by telephone at (805) 378-1462.
Of course, if you are a California Resident, you will rake in the savings and the price tag is steeper if you are a Non-Resident! However, Foreign Students can pay as low as $14.00 per unit. Therefore, it pays to live out of the country! Or in California!
Why Pierce College? Why. You may ask yourself that. It's because Pierce College has stepped up to the plate. They are now being recognized as one of the top transfer schools in Southern California! Pierce has vital alliances with UCLA, Berkeley, Cal State Northridge, CalTech and other California universities. Visit www.piercecollege.edu . It costs about $5.00 more per unit than Moorpark College for resident students; however, international students (people from other countries) pay full price. No deals. Therefore, if you are a student from another country, check out Moorpark College. If not, it would depend on where you are located. The problem with Moorpark College and I'll say it. It is way the heck out in nowhere's ville! If you live in California, you would seriously need to live near the MetroLink, L.A. Union Station, Glendale, Downtown Burbank, Van Nuys, Northridge, Chatsworth, Simi Valley, Camarillo, Oxnard or Montalvo or have a quick access to get to these areas, or get used to putting on some serious mileage on a car, gas, insurance and repairs. Basically, you would need a part-time job just to pay for your car to go to Moorpark College, unless you somehow rented a room, apartment or house near one of these major links that can take you close enough to the college where you could grab a bus the rest of the way. Maybe you have an aunt or an uncle's place you could stay at?? For the difference in rent and a car, you would be working just to go to school, unless you had rich parents, which, hey, you might? If you had such rich parents, you'd be living on some fancy campus instead of going to a community college? Its tough out there! In that respect, Pierce is so much easier to go to for anyone living in the Agoura Hills or Calabasas areas. There is also something to be said about time commuting! Pierce is just so much closer!
Agoura Hills is located 15 minutes inland from Malibu. You go up Kanan Road all the way through to Pacific Coast Highway, where you will see Pepperdine University. You will drool. Even if they do not have the classes you want to take, you will want to go to that school. The cool ocean breeze just is too inviting. Visit the website at http://publicpolicy.pepperdine.edu/welcome/pepperdine.htm before you drive by the school. If there is not a class you are interested in, beware, do not drive past the school or your life's plans will change! Even if you are Jewish, you will want to go! You will want to change religions! Study law, education and psychology, business and management, public policy; however, if you are not going to major in any of the aforementioned subjects, do not drive by until you are locked in somewhere else. Then, you can bring a nice basket of fruit and go on the little lake with the ducks and sit and eat and dream.
Cal Lutheran University has both undergraduate, master and post MBA courses. Located in one of the FBI's safest cities, you can get your business degree and live on campus at a fraction of the cost, without the loss in quality education. The phone number is (805) 493-3173. You have many more options than Pepperdine. Pepperdine is great but you need to go there if you specifically need what they have to offer and fit into their perfect little tidy box. At Cal Lutheran, that box is just so much bigger. Both schools have their advantages. Visit www.callutheran.edu/ . The campus is not as, how should I say it, flawless as Pepperdine's campus; however, it is gorgeous and it feels like a home away from home.
